CRÈME DE LA CRÈME: Lucy’s Inimitable Style

Featured dealer: ‘Paris Flea Market’

Over a decade ago, Lucy & Tony set up shop in a charming beach bungalow along the coast highway in Encinitas & proceeded to launch French home & garden décor in Southern California. From there on out she set the standard for romantic, time-worn opulence & single-handedly developed the parisien look that women have to have!
Several years after selling that North County building, she joined us here & her legions of followers (myself included) are, once again, in celeste francaise.
With her signature aqua painted walls, there is no mistaking that you have entered Paris Flea Market’s grand salon. Here, faded opulence abounds just like in the grand brocantes that inspire her: Tres magnifique trumeau mirrors, early French armoires & 30’s mirrored consoles are enchantingly mixed with crusty garden urns & chippy painted vanities. Columns with elaborate capitals, richly detailed architectural elements, goddess statues holding beaded domes that have been electrified, farmhouse tables - all intertwined with luxurious upholstered pieces done in fabrics from her private collection of vintage velvets, satins, white matelasse & barkcloths…And even her upholstery is beautifully stylized with pleating, piping, crocheted edging & ruffles!
Lucy’s love of tres dramatique lighting & over-the-top chandeliers is present everywhere: From over-sized, hotel lobby chandeliers, ornate Venetian glass sconces & vintage garden fixtures to every size & shape crystal chandelier dripping with strands of crystals, macaroni beading & antique beaded bulb covers…Here you will find beaucoup, one-of-a-kind, glamorous fixtures that stand on their own in any room.
We hope you’ll plan a visit here soon & be prepared, mon amie - to swoon when you take all this in. But not to worry….we have a Louis XIV fainting couch & vapors awaiting you!
Jusqu’a la fois prochaine.

FABULOUS AFFORDABLE FINDS: “Trouvailles Fabuleux”

Featured dealer: ‘What Mama Had’

Four years ago, after closing their immensely popular shop on Park Boulevard, Brian & Jim, co-owners of ‘What Mama Had’ decided to take space at Vignettes. And the rest, as they say, is history…
Now expanded into two large rooms, they are major contributors to the shop as well as to the entire antique community & have maintained & grown their huge & loyal following. We are so lucky to have them!
Two entire rooms are filled to the brim with their successful formula: Mixing wonderfully unique antique furnishings & decorative accessories – all, at great prices.
From hard-to-find Art Nouveau, Deco & Victorian pieces to architectural elements, garden, painted furniture & shabby chic decor; they tirelessly scour the countryside & continue to amaze us with the loads they bring in every week – much to our customers delight! Decorative accessories are artfully arranged thru-out their rooms & showcases are filled with jewelry, vanity items, pottery, collectibles & highly sought after sterling treasures & silverplate serving pieces.
In addition, their rooms feature one of the largest collections of antique & vintage lighting in town. From elaborate beaded ballroom chandeliers, Italian tole with porcelain roses & Venetian glass, to pairs of petite gilded fixtures, candelabras & Spanish colonial sconces; they have an enormous variety of decorative lighting for every decorating style & décor.
In this day & age, when value is the new chic, Brian & Jim have absolutely perfected the concept!
We hope you’ll stop in & see them soon.

Jusqu’a la fois prochaine.

WINDOW DRESSING: “Art de l’etalage”

Featured dealer: ‘Le Muse’

Vignettes’ award-winning, floor to ceiling, front window displays are the brilliant, inspired work of Darlah Mulloy of ‘Le Muse’.
An amazing designer & stager, (we all watch in awe as she works) her designs combine over-the-top savoir faire, pure merchandising magic, & the work of a naturally gifted artist. It pours out of her & she truly personifies artistic & creative genius.
In her signature rapid-fire-style, she transforms & creates a visual feast for the eyes on a petit stage using vintage elements, branches, seashells, textiles, silk-screened pillows, custom upholstered pieces, statues, elaborate chandeliers & vintage home & garden décor, all, in unique & wildly imaginative ways that rival the glamorous windows & salons of les grand magasins in Paris.
She epitomizes the level of talent that Vignettes is known for & her brilliantly staged windows will, bien entendu, delight & amaze you.
