When designer Susan, of Michelle Scott Designs, first talked to me about taking space here at the shop, she spoke of loving & connecting with all things French, particularly the French Seaside
She came on board with a small space, has tripled in size & her French themes, seasonal displays & elaborately detailed, decorative arrangements, always with a French twist, have met with fabuleux success.

We often collaborate on an upcoming season or idea & from there she takes off with her own unique brand of wild, creative abandon & a few days later comes in, fait accompli, with the entire projeter that she’s worked on, always into the wee hours, of vintage furnishings, elaborately detailed props & beaucoup handmade (& always glittered) elements to complete her visionnaire.
She beautifully interprets the French landscape thru her unique, rose colored lunettes & the aesthetic that pours out of her, is a dazzling élan of artistic whimsy woven in & around tres au courant style. This is the Paris
Her most recent power piece, a turn of the century, very opulent, French vitrine with painted cherubs, curved glass, brass detailing, & completely lined in velvet was in the shop all of one day before it was snapped up.
From French Riviera chic to urban Paris Provence
Her current summertime theme “Cirque de Soleil”, is complete with vintage flags & tickets, painted cages with circus animals, vintage magic games spilling out of Victorian top hats & last but not least, a tightrope strung across her booth that’s clipped with elaborate paper doll acrobats, all handmade from French book pages, with feathers, jewels & glass glitter…& the backdrop to all this?...an early 1900’s, wall size, French map faded into perfection & a tres enorme, rusted iron chandelier dropped down into the scene.
Intermixed with all her fabuleux hand-crafted whimsies are vintage upholstered pieces, beaucoup chandeliers & an amazing selection of painted furniture, all done with her own signature colors, finishes & stains.
She’s French at heart…Certainement!…With une belle French soul that’s etched (& glittered) in pure artistic savoir faire.
