With Halloween right around the corner, we’re now featuring a glamorous collection of tres chic, properly bejeweled & highly stylized – PUMPKINS.

These are not your average, garden variety, les citrouilles straight out of the pumpkin patch mes amies….oh, mais non! These glamour gourds have been given a chic & sparkling, extreme make-over so they can be the spellbinding focal point of all your fall settings. Be-jeweled, glittered, painted, & embellished with vintage brooches, crowns & trims, these pumpkins give all new meaning to the word: Repurposed!
And since Halloween is not just for kids anymore, we’re also presenting all the glamorous props & delightful fashion items that you'll need to host an haute soiree or attend a gala masquerade ball, fully dressed to the vintage nines & toujours, with a French twist.
Vintage feather boas, elbow length gloves, French cigarette holders, masks, rhinestone heeled pumps, Lucite purses, French theater crowns, tulle-layered prom dresses, fortune telling cards & my personal favorite, a Josephine Baker style, rhinestone-encrusted headpiece with an accompanying rhinestone brassiere, bien entendu!

A grand Merci Beaucoup to all who attended Vignettes’ 14 year anniversary soiree & to everyone who worked (so hard) on turning this party into a visual fantasyland for the gypsy soul! To say a fun time was had by all, might just be the understatement of the annee! The dealer/designers of Vignettes’ went all out to truly make this the magnifique event of all time. I’m so proud of them! And, for the 1st time in the shop's history, we boldly introduced JEWEL TONE COLORS! Oh, mais oui mesdames!
The decadent velvets, brocades & satins dripping off vintage chaises, gilt settees & French chairs; the glitterized, hand-made paper chandeliers; the large market umbrella hung with long fringe & dangling coins; the purple side table with charms nailed all the way around it; the completely bejeweled frames, crowns, mannequins & carousel horse (mais oui!) just to name a few!

The gals of Les Femmes Boheme: Joy/The Vintage Rabbit, Sherry/Glamarella Junk & Mary/Sweetpeas & Snapshots, deserve a standing ovation for their beautiful & whimsical trunk show glamour & chic gypsy couture. Everyone stood back in awe when the models walked out holding oversized gilt frames, birdcages, parasols & large silverplate trays overflowing with baubles & bangles. Now that was over-the-top haute boho fashion! Joy, Sherry & Mary are not only drop-dead gorgeous, inside & out, but are 3 of the most talented gals in the universe. Put them together & voila: Les Femme Boheme is launched into the gypsy couture stratosphere! Follow these gypsy soul sisters wherever they are appearing as they are trend-setting, uber style makers at the top of their game!

Colorful market parasols hung across the front of the shop & the front door was topped by a custom made header/valance dripping in satins, burlap, flower rosettes & jewels.

And the bon bon bar? True edible art, masterfully done in all the peacock & boho chic colors, of course.

The place was abuzz all day; we reconnected with old friends & saw all of our wonderful, loyal customers & additionally, there was the gala feel of an industry party with all the dealers & shop owners in attendance.

The hard work paid off, as it always does & so, without further ado, let me fill a champagne flute with Dom Perignon & raise a toast to Vignettes, my labor of love……….& now, on to the next 14 years………

P.S. And because we’re not ones to rest on our laurels (mais non!), we’ve now officially begun the preparations for our Grande Bohemien Salon de Noel to be all set up by November 15, followed by the Ocean Beach Antique District’s Holiday Open House, Thursday, December 10 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.

And, amidst all the fabulous décor, amazing props & gorgeous models wearing tres magnifique, haute gypsy couture, we are saluting the best of the best, the 20 dealers of Vignettes, the true superstars of the trade who are being celebrated this day for their monumental talent & contributions in making this shop what it is today. No dealers work harder, unearth the most coveted items faster or have more passion for this business, than this amazing group of dealer/designers who are my true kindred spirits & collaboraters. They deserve a toast!

Now, if I can just get my peacocks trained to strut thru the crowd on cue, we’ll be all set.

Spotlight On The Designers Of - Les Femmes Boheme

The much anticipated Baroque Gypsy Couture Trunk Show highlighting Vignettes’ 14^th year Anniversary Soiree on September 19th is being produced by: Les Femmes Boheme, a fabulous trio of talent comprised of: Joy Gabler - The Vintage Rabbit, Sherry Mattia-Welch - Glamarella Junk & Mary Smilove - Sweetpeas & Snapshots.

Individually, these haute designers have each made a huge name for themselves with their uber chic, trend-setting, wildly imaginative creations that have been featured in fashion & style magazines & at shows throughout the country. Then together, by combining their brilliant creativity, pure whimsical magic has been catapulted into the eye candy stratosphere!

For the trunk show, Vignettes’ will provide the perfect glamorous setting for live models, wearing Les Femmes’ over-the-top, wild Gypsy couture & carrying vintage props, to stroll & mingle throughout the shop. This unique ‘Pret-a-Porter’ style (ready to wear) trunk show will run from 2:00 to 4:00 & everything featured that day, on the models, spilling out of trunks & adorning mannequins will be for sale.

Joy will be showcasing a topsy turvy tangle of fabulous Gypsy femme baubles & bangles with a wild bohemian flora & fauna theme.

Sherry features an entire line of vintage couture, hand-dyed slips, hip & chic tee-shirts embellished with crystals & a line of jewels that are vintage jewelry pieces recreated & reworked into stylish necklaces, bracelets & rings.

Mary magically repurposes vintage textiles & hats into millinery masterpieces with jewels, peacock feathers, velvet flowers & ribbons.

Come & celebrate with us & drink in their fabulous creations. Their wearable art is wildly intoxicating & bubbling over with magnums of OOH LA LA ….let the champagne corks start popping!
