For our Chanel theme this holiday season, I knew our front room needed something grand & over the top, as nothing ordinary would do for Mademoiselle CoCo.
So, of course, I went straight to our resident design genius
Karen Lampard of Café Paperie.
Everything we talked about centered around one key theme, Chanel’s signature little black dress. And so with that - a few conversations, a little bit of brainstorming & all my best wishes -
Karen was turned loose.
O. M. G.
I really don’t have the words, the adjectives, or the ability to fully describe the magical creations de papier that came forth from her amazing, high definition imagination. Everyone was rendered speechless when she carried them in.

CoCo - you’ve met your M A T C H !!
Detail after couture detail of; tufting, weaving, knife pleating, rucching & French seaming – all done in paper! 100’s of sheets of glazed black construction paper, 100’s upon 100’s of coffee filters for the Moulin Rouge style under-slips & cinched over-lays. (The all white dress is composed of over 700 coffee filters alone! Karen's adorable niece, Danielle, assisted on this one. And yes, the talent does run wild in this amazing family) Layers & more layers of elaborate passementerie. Hour after hour that turned into days & then weeks, of her getting every single solitary element of these - Project Runway PERFECT.
To top it off, she provided gallery-worthy, hand-colored etchings of each dress with all the fine-tuned couture details & included her heartfelt inspiration behind each one. (These brought tears to my eyes) These etchings are priceless works of art in themselves!
