Coming up this Friday and Saturday, September 7th and 8th
is the Vintage Show of Shows:

The Vintage Marketplace at “the Oaks”.

Put on by the 2 hardest working gals in show business and mes amies,
Rita Reade and Christie Repasy, this has become the go-to show for shoppers of vintage, one-of-a-kind, hand-made creations, furniture, accessories and jewelry. Shabby, French, Industrial, you name it, it will be there and it will be fabulous!

Held four times a year, they have culled together the best of the best vendors in the most beautiful park setting and it makes for, bar-none, the most fantastic outdoor shopping experience around.

Two of Vignettes’ superstar dealers will be their selling;
Robin of Vintage Beach House and Debbie of Blossoms Vintage Chic.
Be sure and look for them with their amazing set-ups and fabulous creations.

My buddy, Susan Darnell (San Diego’s Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Stockist) and I spend the day there, shopping to our heart’s content, stopping for lunch at the great restaurant in the park and then hunkering down for more power-shopping

The show’s promoters, Rita and Christie are in a class all their own. You couldn’t find two nicer or more talented women who so deserve this show’s enormous success and each of them is a majorly sought-after artist in her own right. You don’t often get all these admirable qualities rolled into one, let alone two gals!  Oui, I am in awe!

Their amazing creative vision and passion for what they do combined with choosing the crème de la crème vendors and finding the perfect location (not to mention being the happiest, most positive people on the planet) has earned this event one of the top 20 “Most Romantic Flea Markets in the U.S.” by Romantic Homes Magazine and a fan base that is exploding into the stratosphere.

Well done, Miss Rita and Miss Christie, Well Done!

Celebrating Icons of Style

Our themed events have always gotten a lot of love and support from our customers and we wanted something tres special to celebrate our
17th Anniversary Soiree on Saturday, September 22nd ~ so for this fabulous event we chose “Style Icons We Love” and each dealer/designer has chosen one to highlight in their space.

My pick, of course, had to be Coco Chanel. Her legendary style and self-made empire is endlessly fascinating and no other single name conjures up vintage to modern day haute couture quite like Miss Coco’s. My take will be a peek into her fabled salon where all the magique took place. (And if you look close, you’ll see a little Christian Dior in the mix as well ~ He’s my latest fixation)

Stroll thru the shop on the 22nd where you’ll see nods to Gucci, Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly and modern day style icons like Magnolia Pearl and, always near and dear to our hearts, Rachel Ashwell. You’re bound to find your favorites amongst our picks.

From faded French décor and jaw-dropping inspiration to unparalleled styling and exclusive designs ~ we’re on a roll and ~ we’re turning 17…

Jenny’s accomplishments are awe-inspiring; author of 7 books and co-author of one of the first “Where Women Create” books, publisher, former editor-in-chief of Somerset Studio and Belle Armoire magazine, she also owns ‘CRESCENDOh’ a studio for classes, events, workshops and creative kindred spirits to gather as well as hosting a multitude of on-line workshops in her media center: www.crescendoh.com.

And, as if all that weren’t enough for this petite force of nature, she is also a sought after key-note speaker who travels all over the country speaking on creative passion. Love it!

For her leadership in publishing and the art and crafting community, Jenny was recognized by ‘Folio’ magazine as 1 of the top 40 leaders within the publishing industry.

What a pleasure and honor to host this wunderkind of the arts community, who is not only a creative genius herself, but someone who has made it her life’s mission to fuel the fires of creative passion and imagination in others.
